2 Corinthians 5:2
(AMP) Here indeed, in this [present abode, body], we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over [we yearn to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out] with our heavenly dwelling,
I strongly believe there’s a concept of the new creation that Christians ought to understand when we come to believe and surrender our lives to Christ. When the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that “…therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:…” He means those words as indeed “new creature”.
Do you know that after being born again, you should not only see the corruptible skin as the only body you have. No! Beneath your skin, there’s an incorruptible body that you’re clothed upon. So the new creation/creature that you have become is that which is beneath your skin. That is the real you, the new you, the transformed you!
It is of no surprise that, Paul spoke about this body in 1 Corinthians 5:1 downwards, and linked it to the new creation in the verse 17. So our memory verse in the verse 2 tells us of how we must live as new creatures. We must live in this new celestial/ incorruptible body while we’re on earth here as we prepare and yearn to live in it eternally in the heavens.
Enough for today, let’s meditate on this piece for now and join us tomorrow as we delve more into living in this new celestial body.
PRAYER: Glory to God for this new truth today. Empower me Holy Spirit to begin living in my celestial body here and now on earth as I prepare to be clothed upon someday.
INSIGHT: After the born again experience, there’s an incorruptible body that you’re clothed upon which is beneath your skin.
THE NEW CREATION BENEATH OUR SKIN (Part 2)
2 Corinthians 5:2
(AMP) Here indeed, in this [present abode, body], we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over [we yearn to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out] with our heavenly dwelling.
In the first part of this series, we looked at the new celestial body we receive after we become born again in Christ. It is that new creature we become after we are born anew. Let’s now look at how we must live in this new body.
In our memory verse, Paul teaches us how to live in this body. We live in it first and foremost by “desiring/yearning” for it. Receiving the knowledge of this celestial body, must come with a desire to live in it here and now just as Paul said. One may ask, what is the nature of this new celestial body?
It is that body which Jesus lived in while on earth such that the Bible says there was no sin found in Him. (1 Peter 2:2). He showed us a physical manifestation of this celestial body during his 40 days after resurrection. (John 21). He was received into glory in this body after the 40 days.
Christians have this body also. It is the Holy body that can only be used to live in heaven. We will see its physical manifestation during the rapture. (Read 1 Corinthians 15:52-58). We must yearn to live in it and live in it now! Living in this body, the sinful nature is mortified. Our old past life is done away with when we live in this new body.
Start living in this new body. It is right beneath your skin. Live in it now and be that sinless Christian God designed you to be. (1 John 5:18)
PRAYER: From today, I begin to live in the celestial body which I have beneath my skin. As I live therein, struggle with sin will be a thing of the past in Jesus name, so help me Holy Spirit.
INSIGHT: Desire to live in the spiritual body. Live in the spiritual body. Resurrect on the day of rapture with this spiritual body.
